Room

The Room tool allows you to define a specific area within a building (for example: a room, corridor, vestibule, etc.).

Rooms play different roles in risk calculation for civilian and industrial facilities. If in a project for a civilian object, there may not be any rooms at all, then in a project for an industrial object, it is mandatory to specify rooms, as people can only be placed in rooms (for more details, see Occupants).

To activate the Room tool, click the button or navigate to Tools | Drawing | Room.

You can also use the* **Alt + C** hot key.

You can define a room in one of the following ways:

  1. Click the button and mark a point inside the enclosed area formed by walls. The contour of the room will be defined automatically.
  2. Click the button and manually define the contour of the room. Use this method to specify a room both in the presence and absence of an enclosed area formed by walls.

Defining a Room on the Scene{width=50%}

To change the room properties, select it using the Selector tool and enter the desired values in the properties table.

The Fenix+ 3 application allows you to specify initial temperature for any room. For this, specify the required value in the Temperature field and check the box for the Use a specified value option. The specified value is used in the fire dynamics simulation instead of the initial temperature value, which is used by default for all rooms. For more information, see Setting Fire Dynamics Simulation Parameters.

The area of the room is calculated automatically.

The Name property determines the frequency of fire occurrence in a building for civilian projects, as well as the frequency of fire scenario realization for industrial projects. For more details, see Risk Calculation for Civilian Objects and Risk Calculation for Industrial Objects.

If in the scenario of an industrial project the place of fire occurrence is a hall-type room, the application can assume the evacuation start time for people in this room to be zero. To follow this guideline, check the Hall-type room box in the properties of such a room, and in the evacuation modeling parameters, check the box for Evacuation start time is zero for hall-type rooms and select one of the following methods for setting the evacuation start time: According to the methodology or Manually with methodology priority. For more details, see Evacuation Start Time.
