Project Directory Structure

Reading time

When you work on a project, Fenix+ 3 application creates various folders and files in the project directory on your hard drive.

A fully calculated project directory has the following structure:

Project Directory Structure

  • New project is a folder where all project data are stored. The name of the folder corresponds to the name of the project.

  • Backup is a folder where backup project files are stored. Every time the project is saved, a backup project file is created. Its name has the following format: Name_of_project_file_20161122_132200.fnx. That is, the last edited time and date are added to the project file name.

  • Errors is a folder where error report files are stored. Their names have the following format: Error 9777790000007772 20161204 224507.log. The file name includes the USB key number, error detection date and time.

  • Images is a folder where floor background images are stored. For details, see Floor Background Image.

  • Report is a folder in which the finished report and all images created for the report are stored.

  • Results is a folder where evacuation and fire dynamics simulation results are stored. Results are grouped by scenario and stored in separate subfolders the names of which match scenario names (or identifiers). Evacuation and fire simulation results are located in the subdirectories fds and evac.

  • fds is a folder where fire dynamics simulation results are stored.

  • evac is a folder for storing the results of people evacuation simulation.

  • New project.fnxc is the project file. It has the same name as the project itself. The extension of the project file depends on the application version used to create it. The project file may have the following extensions:

    .fnxc - project created using Fenix+ 3 Professional or Fenix+ 3 Ultimate;

    .fnxd - project created using Fenix+ 3 Demo.

  • DataBases - is a folder, in which the project databases are stored. This directory appears only if the Create a copy of the database for each project mode for working with databases is selected. For details, see General Settings.

To eliminate the risk of possible data loss, when you work on a project, it is prohibited to delete, rename, move or edit any files and folders located in the project directory.
