The Occupants tool allows you to place a single person, a group of people in an arbitrary area or within a room, and a group of people along a line on the scene.

To activate the Occupants tool, click the button or navigate to Tools | Evacuation | Occupants.

You can also use the* **Alt+P** hot key.

People tool Options

To place a person on the scene, do the following:

  1. Click the button.
  2. Set all necessary parameters.
  3. Press the LMB at the location on the scene where you want to place the person.

You can create a group of people on the scene in one of two ways: select an arbitrary area or specify the room where people must be located.

To place a group of people on the scene, do the following:

  1. Click the button to place a group of people in an arbitrary area or the button to create a group of people in a room.
  2. Specify the number of people you need to place or the density of people placement (the area per person).
  3. If you specify the density of people in the area, then you must select the area to be considered: total or arbitary (in this case, the area occupied by obstacles or furniture is not used).
  4. Choose the method for distribution of people in the area: random or uniform distribution.
  5. Select the area or room on the scene where you want to place people.

To place a group of people along the line, do the following:

  1. Click the button.
  2. Specify the number of people you want to place or the density of people placement (the length per person).
  3. Draw a line on the scene along which people must be located. If you draw a polyline, press the LMB to indicate the intermediate points and then press the RMB to indicate the last point.

The line width corresponds to the “width” of the person (dimensions along the direction of movement), and the arrows indicate the direction in which people are facing after placement.

Placing a Group of People along the Line

To place a group of people along an arc, you need to:

  1. Click the button.
  2. Choose the number of people you need to place or the density of people placement (the length per person).
  3. Specify the arc along which people should be located. The start and end of the arc are defined by the first and second mouseclicks, and the radius of the arc is defined by the third click of the LMB.

The thickness of the line corresponds to the “width” of a person (dimensions along the direction of movement), and arrows indicate the direction in which people are facing after they are placed.

Placing a Group of People along the Line

For every person in the group, you can specify the following options:

  1. The profile of people to which the person belongs.
  2. Evacuation start time. For more details on setting the evacuation start time, see Evacuation Start Time.
  3. The exit. If you do not specify the exit or the specified exit is unavailable, then the person will evacuate through the nearest available exit.

An Example of the Arrangement of People in a Room

When you place several people on the scene at the same time, then the corresponding message is displayed in the event log. The number of people placed can be less than specified by the user if it is impossible to place the given number of people in the selected area.

Display of occupants on the scene

The shape, color and size of a person are determined by the profile of people to which the person belongs.

Default Display of People that Belong to Profiles M1, M2, M3 and M4 by Default{width=60%}

The Profile parameter defines people who have the same properties:

  • Area and shape of horizontal projection;
  • Mobility group;
  • Possibility of movement and quantitative characteristics of movement along escape routes of various types.

For adding new people profiles or editing existing ones, use the People Profile Editor.
