This section explains how to use Material Editor and People Groups Editor in the program.
Material Editor
The material editor allows creating, editing and deleting materials. To open the material editor, use the menu item Databases | Editor of Substances and Materials.
All material options are in three tabs.
State of aggregation. Currently, this parameter does not play a role in modeling the dynamics of fire development.
Molar mass. As a rule, a combustible load is a complex mixture of substances, for which it is very difficult to determine the molar mass. Therefore, as a rule, a value of either 87 g/mol (wood, fabrics) or 104 g/mol (plastic, rubber) is taken.
Linear flame velocity. For some materials, the flame propagation velocity is either unknown or strongly dependent on temperature (as, for example, for liquids). In this case, set the value to zero. If the flame propagation velocity is zero, then a fire occurs immediately over the entire area of the fire bed (for more information, see Fire source).
Color. Objects for which material is defined are displayed in the color specified for the material.
Description. A detailed description of the material that is displayed in the report.
Data sources. Sources from which material parameter values are derived.

Short description of the form of the people groups editor
The people groups editor form contains the following fields:
- Name — the name of the group;
Do not use long group names. Additional information is recommended in the Description field.
- Description — description of the group;
- Mobility group — a set of people mobile qualities;
- Area — the area of the horizontal projection of a person;
- Width — the “width” of a person, the transverse dimension of the horizontal projection of the person;
- Thickness — “thickness” of a person; longitudinal dimension of the horizontal projection of a person;
- Height — the height of a person;
- Color — the color that a person is displayed on the scene;
- Movement allowed — whether movement along this type of route is allowed or not;
- Dependence V(D) – the dependence of the velocity on the flow density of an arbitrary form.
In the section of movement parameters along the escape routes of various types, the values of the following parameters are displayed:
• $V_{max}$ – the maximum possible value of speed;
• $V_{min}$ – the minimum possible value of speed;
• $D_0$ – the flow density at which the spped begins to decrease;
• a – the dimensionless quantity;
• $D_{max}$ – the maximum flow density.
Create a new group
To create a new group, follow these steps:
-
In the left part of the window, select the desired group with the appropriate parameters.
-
Click the Add button.
-
Fill in all the form fields in the group editor.
As a result, a new group will be created with parameters similar to those of the selected group. .
Remove a group
To remove a group, follow these steps:
-
In the left part of the window, select the group that you want to remove.
-
Press the button Delete.
The selected contingent will be deleted.
Edit a group
To edit the group, follow these steps:
-
In the left part of the window, select the group whose parameters you want to change.
-
Edit the name and description of the group.
-
Change the general group parameters.
-
Change the movement policy for escape routes of various types. To enable the movement for a certain type of route, check the box Movement allowed next to its name. To prohibit movement, clear the check box.
-
If necessary, change the dependence of speed on flow density for the desired types of escape routes. To do this, in the Dependency V(D) field, select one of the following values: Logarithmic, Linear, Piecewise linear, Continuous, Unknown.
-
If necessary, change the parameters of the dependences of the speed on the flow density for the desired types of escape routes.
To change the parameters of the dependence of speed on the flow density for a certain type of route, the movement along this section of the route must be allowed.
You cannot change the parameters of an unknown dependency. The speed with this dependency is determined by the speed of that type of route (except for the Aperture route, as well as those types of routes for which the speed is everywhere 0, or the movement is not allowed), where $V_0$ is minimum. If this type of route is not found, then the speed shall be defined by a logarithmic relationship with default parameters.
For this:
- Left-click on the current dependency parameters in the Parameters V(D) field for the corresponding section of the route.
A dialog box opens showing the dependence of speed and intensity on the flow density.
The window of the dependence of speed and intensity on the flow density is divided into two parts. The left side of the window displays general information, formulas and calculation conditions, units of density and speed, current motion parameters, as well as general calculated values for this section of the route. On the right side of the window there is a graph of the dependence of speed and intensity on the flow density.
- If necessary, change the units of density (m²/m², people/m²) and flow rates (m/min, m/s).
- Edit the dependency settings.
For the logarithmic dependence, you can change the following parameters:
$V_{max}$ – the maximum possible value of speed (unit: m/min)
$V_{min}$ – the minimum possible value of speed (unit: m/min)
$D_o$ – the flow density at which the speed begins to decrease (unit: m²/m²)
a – the dimensionless
$D_{max}$ – the maximum flow density (unit: m²/m²).
For the linear dependence, you can change the following parameters:
$V_{max}$ – the maximum possible value of speed (unit: m/min)
$V_{min}$ – minimum possible speed value (unit: m/min)
slope – slope of the line (unit: m³/(m² min)
yIntercept – line parameter (unit: m/min)
$D_{max}$ – minimum flow density (unit: m²/m²)
For piecewise linear dependence, you can change the following parameters:
$D_{wmin}$ – flow density with the lowest speed (unit: m²/m²)
$D_{max}$ – the maximum flow density (unit: m²/m²)
$D_{[i]}$ – flow density (unit: m²/m²)
$V_{[i]}$ – flow rate (unit: m/min)
The piecewise linear dependance graph table shall contain data for at least 2 points.
For the constant dependence, you can change the following parameters:
$V_{max}$ – maximum flow speed (unit: m/min)
$D_{мvmin}$ – the maximum flow density with the lowest speed (unit: m²/m²)
$D_{max}$ – the maximum flow density (unit: m²/m²)
When changing the dependence parameters, the graph of the dependence of speed and intensity on the flow density, as well as the general calculated values for the selected section of the route, change automatically. For the selected type of route the values of the following parameters are:
• $D_0$ – the flow density at which the speed begins to change;;
• $V_0$ – flow rate at zero density;
• *$D_{qmax}$ – the flow density at which maximum intensity is reached*;
• *$Q_{max}$ – maximum intensity*.
For the logarithmic dependence of the speed on the flow density, the value shall be set manually by the user.
- To apply the new values, click the Apply button. To cancel the changes, click the Cancel button.
- To save changes to the group, click the Apply button.
